My Work

Teaching: With over thirty years’ experience of teaching, working with pupils from Nursery to Y13, I can honestly say that the most important aspect of teaching is to love it. Having been a headteacher for the last ten years, I never stopped classroom teaching and I never stopped learning from pupils as well as about them.

Leading: The satisfaction of leading development through your team is second to none. My teams have driven forward fantastic curriculum change, developed wellbeing, embedded an international and an environmental focus, created a culture of CPD, enhanced pupil voice, raised standards, cultivated creativity and championed inclusion. Business projects include developing a Swim School and a Wrap Around care facility.

Writing: My seven French shows for KS2 and 3 that toured the length and breadth of the UK and all the pupil and teacher materials to accompany these, showcase my creativity and success. One of them (Abracadabra) won a European Award for Languages, an EU award presented at the Foreign Office. My twenty years of giving weekly assemblies on wide-ranging themes, prove that there is nothing I can’t turn into a talk, assembly or workshop. I’ve even got a back catalogue of personalised people poems and songs to mark my colleagues’ unique contributions to their workplace. I have blogged passionately on a wide range of subjects from the Children’s Climate Strikes to the importance and nature of Remembrance.
